Lazy weekend
I had a 5 day weekend this week but it was pretty un-eventful. Jer had to work and then the girls got sick. They both caught a bit of a stomach bug and are a bit pukey so we have basically been home bound. So you would think that I cleaned the house and did all the laundry right? Um, sure. Well we did do some laundry but then I decided to take advantage of Abbys sick naps (she naps SO GOOD when she is sick!) and I made a little crafty project! I saw a woman at work the other day with this cute little camera bag and my OCD kicked in and I just had to have one! I didnt want to spend the money though so I figured I would make one. I checked Etsy and found a few things that I liked so this is what I came up with:

Yes, I am QUITE proud! It has a zipper, I added padding for the camera, it is lined and has a little lined pocket in front and a clasp so I can hook it to my bag for easy access. WOW! I have never made anything this detailed before and I didnt do too bad. The one thing though.... you would think the strap would be last but it should have been FIRST so I had to rip out some stitches and then try my best to squeeze it in. The bag is only 4.5" wide so it was hard to get it in the machine to sew. Oh well... I still love it! I got this fabric to make some pillow and curtains for our basement but I love it so I wanted to use it for this too.
Then I also did some READING. Yes, I actually bought a book AND read some of it. I have been hearing so much about the Twilight series and it sounds like my kind of story so K and I sat outside today and I read for a bit. I made it through Ch 4 and so far its been pretty good!

My last book took me over a year to finish so we'll see if I can keep this up =)

Death Ride ~ Lake Tahoe

Our latest adventure was to Lake Tahoe for Jer to participate in the Death Ride. As you can see from the logo above it was 5 Mountain Passes, 129 miles and 15,000 vertical feet of climbing. It took Jer a little of 12 hours to complete but HE DID IT!! We are so proud of him. It was quite the accomplishment and a really tough ride.
Tahoe was pretty smokey due to the fires in CA but we had a really great time. Kaitlyn still had to wear a dress 100% of the time even though we were camping...
Indian Creek Reservoir:

Abby is walking about 95% of the time now!!

We got out to do some BEAUTIFUL hikes:

And here is a shot of Jer finishing his big day:

All 5 passes and all 5 stickers!

I dont have any pictures of him on the ride so I am hoping the photo companies got some good ones of him along the way.
On a side note.... Jer is notorious for wild animal attacks and we did have a bear encounter in the camp site. The camp host was very specific about not leaving ANY THING out, do not leave anything in the car, use the bear box etc. We have a pop-up camper which means soft canvas sides so this made me a bit nervous. Towards the end of our trip we had not seen any evidence of bears and we had a dog in our camp so we werent too worried and we got a bit relaxed. Well, too relaxed. The boys left their bike bag in the back of our friends truck. Luckily it was just an open truck but the bear climbed up and got the bag, ripped it open and ate Jers trail mix and power bars. It was just scary that the bear was RIGHT next to the trailers!
Another great trip!

Happy 4th of July!
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th! We had a completely packed fun filled day. 1st we say a parade up at Brighton Ski resort. Then we were off to the Bridges cabin for a BBQ (and a few brewskies...), then we headed to Park City for fireworks. So we srated at about 8 a.m. and didnt get to bed until after midnight. The kdis had a complete blast and Abby even made it throught the fireworks without screaming!
Here are some picts thanks to Heather!
Jer rode up to the top of the canyon to meet us:

Success....
So Logan and the MS150 were a huge success. Jer made it (of course!) all 175 miles. It was super hot so we were really proud. The weekend all together was really fun. I figured the kids and I would run around town all day but we never even left the camp site! Our spot was PERFECT! Right in the shade 100% of the time, and right along the river, and by the restrooms. So we just hung out and relaxed. The guys started their ride early to beat the heat so by the time naps and lunch were done they were back. We got in some swimming at the Logan Municipal Pool and then just hung out and relaxed. It was a lot of fun. So here are some highlights:
Nice shady spot!

But we were all pretty PACKED in... Can you see us way back there in the middle...

Waiting for daddy:

Crossing the finish line!

Way to go daddy!

Sweet rewards.... Free icies!

Showing off daddy's metal:

Completely exhausted...
