I was right....

So, the doodles were the death of me after all. Unfortunately I did not make the cut this week and have been ELIMINATED from the LDD Apprentice Program... dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn.

The most disappointing part was the critique. It was a great critique it was just that it was one of those "DOH" moments. The comment was that my design needed more texture and some "wow" factor to it to make it stand out. Great point! The "doh" part of this was that I did that EXACT THING when I used them in my own layout I just did not include that in the preview! AHHHH! I read the assignment as more of a brush (outline) sort of thing. I included colored "stickers" in the preview to make them easier to see but I wanted to keep it really generic and more flat and then I made sure to do a layout right away to show the different ways my doodles could be used. I took the stickers and used textured papers to color them instead of just flat colors or plain brushes. So unfortunately that did not come across in my actual submittal. Very disappointing and I am totally bummed. I just did not want to do the standard flowers and swirls.... Oh well.

But it was a great opportunity and I am so glad I tried. I learned quite a bit too and got to try out some really cool programs. One thing I learned though is designing takes a TON of time! WOW! But I did really enjoy it. I think you may see a freebie here or there from me now too. I also think I may try and get some kits on Knapp Scraps one of these days too. Ya never know!

So sorry this is all scrappa talk and probably wont make sense to every one but I just needed to vent.

Thanks to every one that commented on my submittals and downloaded my stuff. Or TRIED to download it... the link for the first one was a bit wonky.

So with that I will leave you with an image of my TEXTURED pond pals....

Doodle me CRAZY!!

Little Dreamer Apprentice Challenge #3 - Doodle Me Baby.... or as I refer to it.... Doodle me CRAZY! This one was so hard! I had a million ideas and just could not get them to work out. Some were too "themey", or boring, or looked worse then a kindergardner drawing. One may have even been called a "possessed lamb" by a certain someone.... (Thanks Jenny! ha ha ha) I just could not DRAW! I was not feeling like the standard swirls and flowers sorts of doodles. So in the end I came up with some little critters that I am quite proud of! I guess it is the MN girl in me. So here they are!

Pond Pals:

I believe they will be available to download soon at LDD. This round closes Monday at midnight so I think they will be up after that.

Wish me luck and have a Happy St. Patty's Day!

Feelin' Lucky

This week the Apprentice challenge was "All About the Elements". We had to make one glitter, one metal, one stitch and then one element of out choice. It was really fun and I got to play with a lot of new programs. I decided to have some fun with this and I came up with a kit for St. Patrick's Day! I figured I could use a little luck. So here it is!

FEELIN' LUCKY:

You can also download it HERE Please leave me a comment if you download it. Also, feel free to post your LO's with this kit in the APPRENTICE GALLERY for your chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate at LDD!

ETA: WOW! Thank you so much for the response to my freebie. The link is now available at LDD so please take a look at all of the great entries! THANKS!

I made it!

So it is after midnight so I guess I can spill the beans!! I made it through the first round in the LDD Apprentice Challenge! I am so excited about this opportunity. I have always thought I would eventually design and when this came up at LDD I had to go for it. It will be an exciting month!

So here is my submission:

Spring Dreams
I made a LO with it too of course! I found a sweet poem and modified it a bit to fit for this page.
